Salvation Experience
When I was 14 years old I accepted Christ as my Lord, and my Savior. My Savior indeed as I was surely on a path of destruction. From arson at 6, breaking and entering at 8, drugs at 11, my childhood was riddled with violence, crime, drugs, poverty, and pain. It was only after having been saved for a few years that a close family member asked me what had changed in me…why I was so different. It was then that she told me the family consensus was, since my early years that I would be dead or in prison by the time I was 16. I was able to witness to her with one simple response, "Jesus. The difference is Jesus."
Current Relationship with Christ
The challenge of my current relationship with Christ is to live a genuine, Spirit filled walk with Christ - beyond religion, and to do so under the mantle of leadership to which I have been called. My ministry as a worship leader is focused on the body of Christ in enabling and encouraging spiritual growth through the worship experience. My passion also extends to the discipleship of those outside the church who are lost, lonely, and hurting…trying desperately to fill the void in their lives with everything but Christ. As cliché as that may sound, the desperation of man is the truth of the ages, and my acceptance of the commandment of Christ to "go into all the world" is to be an example and to let His light shine before men through my walk. My approach is to walk before men as a living example of the grace, mercy, and acceptance of a real Savior, hoping that one day, by the guiding of the Holy Sprit, they too will accept Christ.
Leadership Experience
"Leaders must ask themselves it they want survival, success, or significance" - John C. Maxwell
I choose significance. At the end of the day, those we have trained, inspired, supported, believed in, and enabled are where our measure as leaders will be weighed. Not in songs sung or written, not in skill demonstrated, money earned, empires built…but in lives affected. I believe in raising up a generation of lead worshipers…those who will lead the way into the presence of God through the worship expression. There are few things more effective than the power of duplication and my chief goal is to see my team members and congregation members alike rise to the task…to sing like David sang, and become true worshipers.
